kiersten kemp
co-owner / grand rapids, miBeing a dancer and just generally passionate about anything dance, the word "barre" on the Pure Barre Coming Soon banner caught Kiersten's attention right away. She took her first Pure Barre class at the Midland studio just one month after the birth of her 2nd child in June, 2009. Having had two not-so-easy pregnancies since 2006, Kiersten was desperate to get back in shape, and after just two classes, she knew she had stumbled upon THE workout and technique that was going to change her body and life.
Kiersten was born and raised in Taiwan where she began dancing ballet and traditional Chinese dance at a young age and gained an appreciation for the art form. She moved to Midland, Michigan at age thirteen and despite the language barrier, tried out for the Pompon squad that first year in Junior high and made the team. For the next six years she enjoyed being on the squad, participating in the sporting events, and was the co-captain her senior year, as well as making the All-Star team with Mid-American Pomponthat year. Kiersten attended Albion College for two years, then University of Michigan for four where she earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. While focusing on her studies and a professional career, she continued to attend dance classes wherever she could find a suitable studio.
Kiersten was a passionate and dedicated Pure Barre client for two years with 350+ classes under her belt before she became a Pure Barre instructor at the Midland studio. With the support of her husband and rest of her family, she is excited to fulfill her dreams and aspirations to become a studio owner and to introduce this most effective and addicting technique to Grand Rapids, Michigan.
