“Why do you barre? Health is LIFE”
I have always wanted to stay healthy and stay active. I have had Type 1 Diabetes for the past 11 years, and it’s hard sometimes, but I’m grateful. It forces me to know my body, to think closely about my health, because literally what I do today, effects tomorrow and my next 20 years.
Pure Barre came to my town at a time in my life when I was very stressed out and uninspired by working out at the gym or home. As a senior BS RN student, I am often under a lot of stress. Not only do I want to care for myself so that I can care for patients, I also want lead by example. My mother-in-law invited me to a Pure Barre class, and from the first class I have been hooked! Pure Barre forces me to take time for myself, to care for myself, and it certainly has helped with my blood sugars. I love Pure Barre!
Since starting Pure Barre, I feel so much stronger. I make less excuses for myself and my health and I look good and I’m finally proud of my body. I know that if I can make it through the hour I can make it through anything! The music and the teachers ROCK!
My advice for someone just considering Pure Barre is to find a friend and go! Work at your own pace and know there is NO JUDGMENT from others. Everyone was in your shoes at some point. Dig down deep and get up on those toes!
