Why I Barre: Kali's Story

Why do you barre? “It hurts so good”

I’m a newbie to Pure Barre with only about a month under my belt, and it’s insane the changes I’ve seen in my body in such a short amount of time! I was born with a congenital heart defect, and had two open heart surgeries as a child. This always left me with many exercise restrictions and made getting fit and strong very hard. My doctor is so impressed with the improvement in my heart function since I began Pure Barre! I’m so much stronger than I was when I started. I can now hold that 90 second plank – which I thought was impossible during my first class!

I played competitive volleyball all through childhood until I was 17 and Pure Barre is the first workout I’ve found that I love just as much and still challenges me. I love that every class I learn something new and am able to push myself even harder.

Since starting Pure Barre, I have lost inches and look more toned and leaner. I’ve become so much stronger in such a short period of time. The first class I got my abs to shake was epic. I’ve also seen a huge increase in my energy levels – after a Pure Barre class I feel like I can tackle the rest of my day without dragging by midafternoon. As a student, my grades and overall attitude about school have also improved drastically since starting Pure Barre!

My advice for someone just considering Pure Barre is to give it a few classes to really get a feel for the technique. It’s really about finding your mind-body connection, which doesn’t come easily. You have to be mentally and physically focused, but each class you’ll learn more and get stronger!
