Mother/daughter duos Erica, Diane, Anna and Vicky, teamed up to bring Pure Barre back to downtown Ann Arbor and they could not be more excited! Studio owners Erica and Anna tell us more about their journey to studio ownership.
Pure Barre: When did you first fall in love with Pure Barre?
Erica: During my junior year of college. I loved team sports in high school, but I had gotten out of shape in college as I struggled to find a workout routine that I actually enjoyed. My roommates had been raving about how challenging and fast paced Pure Barre was, but I was nervous to go because I didn’t think I could make it through a full class. When they all went home for Christmas break, I gave Pure Barre a try. I was instantly hooked after my first class – I took class for 10 days straight and could already see changes in my body. I have never looked back! Pure Barre has given me the community that I enjoyed so much as a part of team sports, and has made me stronger than ever.
Anna: I fell in love with Pure Barre right away. I started taking classes back in 2009, and started teaching in 2010. I’ve never looked back!
Pure Barre: What inspired you to open your own studio?
Erica: Whenever I really love something, I want to share it with as many people as I can. As soon as I fell in love with Pure Barre, I knew I wanted to teach and take my passion to the next level. As soon as I started teaching I knew that I wanted to own my own studio. Ann Arbor has a tight knit community of health conscious people and Pure Barre has become a staple here. After the Pure Barre Ann Arbor studio moved from downtown, I saw the opportunity to team up with Anna and Vicky to bring Pure Barre back to where it started. Being a Pure Barre owner allows me to combine my two passions – Pure Barre and women’s health. It’s a dream job!
Anna: I’ve been in love with Pure Barre since my first class. I jumped at any opportunity to further my passion. So naturally, studio ownership has always been a dream come true!
Pure Barre: Tell us about your professional background.
Erica: I attended the University of Michigan and double majored in Biology and Psychology. I am now in medical school at the University of Michigan and in two years I will be an OB/Gyn.
Anna: Pure Barre has been a huge part of my life throughout my 20’s, and I was a student before I made Pure Barre my full time career.
Pure Barre: What is special about the Pure Barre community of owners?
Erica: Pure Barre studio owners are PASSIONATE. We are a group of people who believe deeply in the technique, and this shows in the way we run our studios. Each studio has a unique personality but each one has a lot of Pure Barre love. Pure Barre studio owners support each other – it’s amazing!
Anna: Pure Barre studio owners come from all different walks of life and have a huge love for Pure Barre. There is nothing more energizing than the annual #PureBarreOwners conference. What could be better than a room full of passionate Pure Barre boss ladies (and gents)?! Nothing!
