Pure Barre’s 2015 Holiday Collection features a carefully curated array of items that range from in-studio performance pieces to stylish soft vintage fleece lifestyle pieces. This collection allows you to effortlessly transition in and out of the studio this season! To get the inside scoop on the design, we met with Amy Tankersley, Vice President of Product & Retail Strategy at Pure Barre’s corporate headquarters. Pure Barre: How do you typically go about designing a new collection?
Amy: For the Holiday Collection, I started by thinking about gift giving. I wanted to include items that clients would be attracted to both as gifts and to wear for themselves. Next, I thought about holiday colors and colors that will brighten up the studio during this festive time of year. Color is so important – it’s the first thing that people are attracted to. Many of our ever-popular graphic tees are in the red family, and has been requested often by our studio owners and clients. And of course, red is also iconic to the Pure Barre brand– it was a no-brainer!
Our clients come to Pure Barre because we are experts in the barre technique and deliver a top notch experience in every class. We also consider ourselves experts when it comes to creating apparel for our clients. Our line is exclusive to Pure Barre and created specifically with our clients in mind. You aren’t going to find these products anywhere else besides in studio and possibly on our Pure Barre online shop.
Pure Barre: Tell us about the new performance pieces you are offering in this collection.
Amy: We get a lot of positive feedback about the supplex we use in our tights and performance tops – it’s a little heavier than other brands and wears really well. Having something that is a little heavier tends to work better to go from the studio to your lifestyle. The supplex washes and wears very well and the quality lasts for a long time. This is a great fabric for a new client just starting Pure Barre, or a long time client looking for a bottom that can go beyond their workout. We are continuing to use the supplex in our performance bottom (the Nessa Tight) and performance top (the Elaan Tank) this season.
This is the first time we are offering the Pure Barre branded script on the bottom of the tights, which increases the fun factor! Both clients and studio owners have requested a branded tight option, and we are excited to offer the Nessa Tight in both red and black this season!
Pure Barre: Tell us more about the moisture management quick dry technology that is featured in many of the items.
Amy: The new Maci Tank and Reasha Long Sleeve are created from a polyester and nylon blend which wicks extremely well. When you work out, your body heat goes up, and you start to sweat and burn calories. The quick dry technology we use in our pieces wicks away your sweat to keep you comfortable throughout class. The distribution throughout the fibers is what brings you comfort.
Pure Barre: This season introduces fleece and the first sweatpant (we are so pumped!) which is intended to be worn outside the studio. What was your thinking behind expanding the range of clothing in this collection?
Amy: Who doesn’t love a good sweatpant? Sweatpants are traditionally big and baggy and super comfortable and nothing against those – I own a lot of them! The Pure Barre Quinn Sweatpant is supposed to be a little different than your college issued sweats. This is a mix of comfort, style and fit. We took the nice flat and wide waist band from our tight that clients love, and added a fleece bottom to it. It’s built on a tight block, so this sweatpant fits a little closer to your body. The ruching brings a nice detail at the bottom; you can wear them with a cute pair of flats or you can put them down into a nice boot for the winter and it won’t bulk your boot out. This fabric feels amazing on the skin: super soft, nice, buttery and cozy. When you put on sweatpants, you want all of those things – so that’s what we did!
We are also offering a super cozy pullover (the Vira) in fleece for the holidays. Everyone who puts in on immediately says “Wow, I never want to take this off.” It has some nice length to it, a flattering boat neck, and looks great over a workout top or even just paired with jeans.
Pure Barre: What are you most proud of in the collection?
Amy: I’m most proud of how we’ve incorporated Pure Barre red into the collection. It doesn’t look too intimidating, as red can sometimes be. Red is an important color for this time of year, and for our brand, and we are excited to offer this color in such a flattering fit. What better time of year to launch it!
