In honor of Mother’s Day, we are highlighting some of the special moms & daughters from around the country who take Pure Barre class together as a way to bond and motivate each other.
Meet Lori and Nina, an amazing mother/daughter duo who own Pure Barre Boise together!
Going into business together wasn’t something the Banduccis had ever discussed or considered until Nina, who was living in Minneapolis at the time, started talking about Pure Barre. In fact, she talked about Pure Barre A LOT. Nina described it as “addicting” and one of the “hardest workouts she’d ever experienced,” which says a lot about the technique considering Nina has an extensive athletic background. Lori, Nina’s mom, had just quit her corporate job and was looking for some new, non-corporate opportunities. Nina’s passion for Pure Barre caught her attention. So, after some diligent research on barre and barre franchises, they decided to apply for a Pure Barre franchise in Boise, Idaho.
After interviewing with the Pure Barre Corporate team and being accepted to open a franchise, Nina quit her advertising job in Minneapolis, moved back to her hometown of Boise, Idaho, where she and her mom, Lori, became proud co-owners of the Pure Barre Boise studio.
Working with each other has turned out to be both a privilege and a pleasure. Being business partners has turned out to be easy, because they both respect each other and treat one another as true partners/equals:
“As a mom, working with my daughter has been one of the coolest experiences I could imagine. I get to watch her in action—as a teacher, a mentor, a businessperson, a manager—and she continues to amaze me with her talent, drive, instincts and work ethic. I don’t think it’s really changed our Mother-Daughter relationship as much as it’s opened up a whole new relationship between us—as business partners.” – Lori Banducci
“I am constantly grateful to be working not only with my mom, but someone with such an expansive business background. My mom has already been through the ropes, so I really look to her when situations arise that I am unsure of how to handle or just need some advice. Plus, the woman is brilliant. Our personalities truly do compliment one another; my mom being the pragmatic, analytical one (she loves numbers), and me being the outgoing, creative, enterprising personality behind Pure Barre Boise. There have been a few times where family dinner discussions have derailed into Pure Barre meetings, but for the most part we do a really good job of balancing life at the studio and life outside of the studio — and we wouldn’t have it any other way.” – Nina Banducci
