Work on keeping your leg in line with your hip and forward pressing. This will maintain the challenge even if you have to lower the leg by keeping more work in your seat. Take this best position, rather than keeping your leg high and on the back diagonal, which will be less of a challenge for the outer seat!
Think about pressing into the barre and lifting the chest, as opposed to pulling off the barre and rounding the lower back. When you pull and round it takes the stretch out of the back of the leg and into the back and the seat.
While our socks are a useful tool, the most important aspects of a stable plank are pulling your abs up and in, and distributing your weight more evenly. You can even shift your weight forward for added bonus work in the chest and shoulders.
To lift your leg off the floor, think about lifting up and out while shifting weight into your front leg. Try to avoid leaning out of the work to lift the leg, when you lean out of the work all of the tension is lost.
Make sure you bring the tube back slightly in front of your shoulders before side bending, opposed to keeping the tube behind your back and hinging, which takes the work out of the chest and into the shoulders.
Once you are in your best working position make sure you don’t bend the knee so far that it tracks past the toes but make sure you have a deep enough bend to avoid the joints locking out. That’s how you’ll find your soft bend!
It’s true! We are excited to formally announce that we are introducing a new class offering called Pure Barre Platform! Are you dying to know more? Check our sneak-peek video below:
Pure Barre Platform is a new fast-paced class designed to optimize cardiovascular results and increase total body strength. This heart-pumping class combines quick bursts of high intensity, yet low impact cardio work with periods of lower intensity muscle-sculpting movements. These 55 minutes of high energy, fun and intense interval training at the barre will help you burn calories, jumpstart your metabolism, and increase your overall endurance. It is the perfect cardio complement to your Pure Barre class to help you achieve even greater results, while still holding onto the traditional pieces and parts of a Pure Barre class that we all know and love.
What are people saying about Pure Barre Platform?
“The combination of Pure Barre and Platform give you everything you need. Physically, the mixture of the toning you get in Pure Barre and the extra calorie-burning cardio bursts you get in Platform provide amazing results. Mentally, both classes give you those 55 minutes where you can let go of anything outside the studio doors and give yourself that much needed ‘you time.’ Pure Barre and Platform push you to work past your limits and create a strong you … physically and mentally.”
