"I had struggled with being overweight my whole life and it wasn’t until April of last year that I really made the commitment to do something about it. I was very intimidated by the gym scene so I took my friend’s advice and signed up for my first Pure Barre class. The atmosphere was exactly what I needed; the women were friendly, the workout technique was amazing and the music kept my attention off of the burning in my thighs! Throughout this past year I have seen dramatic results take place inside and outside of my body! I have lost over 40 pounds, am sculpted and toned in places I never knew existed and have regained the self-confidence and passion for life that I had been missing for so long. I am now a certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, an elite member of the Pure Barre La Costa Centurion Club (155+classes) and have been given the honor of working as a front desk manager in the La Costa studio. My next goals are to become a Pure Barre instructor and to open a studio of my own someday. Pure Barre has truly changed my life! "I started taking classes at Pure Barre several months ago to supplement my normal workout routine which — 'til then — had consisted of cardio and weight workouts at the gym. Since taking weekly classes at Pure Barre I have noticed far more definition in my muscles and have developed more of a leaner longer physique. "I was so stressed I couldn't breathe. My job was taking a huge toll on my health and to top it all off I was in the beginning phases of planning my wedding. After one particularly rough day, I decided to give yoga a try. Yoga led me to Pure Barre Technique in Lexington. There, I started Pilates and Yoga classes. The girls were amazingly supportive. Pilates led to Pure Barre. It changed my body in ways I've never seen! I was stronger, more toned, and more confident than ever. I started a calorie reduced diet and by the time I walked down the aisle, I was nearly 15 pounds lighter. The best part of all is the tension is gone. No matter how off balance I get, Pure Barre brings me back to center. Now, when I hear an upbeat song on the radio, I tuck, tuck, and hold. While waiting for the copier to finish, I squeeze to the mid-line. And while waiting on the microwave, I do tricep dips. It has truly changed my life. "

"I have worked out in a gym my whole life, running on treadmills and using the elliptical. When it comes to weights I know my way around and have somewhat of a routine, but never seemed to be satisfied with the results. When a girlfriend of mine first told me about pure barre I was hesitant, but after she went to a few classes I decided to give it a try. Pure Barre works every single muscle I could ever want. “Pure Barre has been one of my favorite therapies!!!"
"I was hit by an equipment truck almost 3 yrs ago. If left me with a broken clavicle, sternum, ripped rotator cuff and a very messed up neck. Because of it I lost all contact with my core until Pure Barre!!! Thanks to Pure Barre and the great teachers at the Solana Beach location my core and I are healing and l stand up straight!!!! “I still feel challenged each time."
"I remember the first inaugural class I took last April, it was right before my 47th birthday. There were many familiar faces from the area in the room, all looking aghast at the moves Carrie was instructing us to do. At the end of the class, I literally had to go home and lay down.
Taking class has become a way of life for me, for many reasons. One of which has been the mental time off, taking my thoughts away from everything outside of the room. This is the first form of exercise that I have taken over the course of my life , that I still feel challenged each time. I feel I walk taller , can see a visible change exercise in my overall body shape and feel great. Although I must admit it feels good when some hot guy takes a second look :) ! My daughter Maddie 14, has taken one class with me , in fact you taught it. She won't come again. Joey 17, my son has told me I'm a hot Mama with no bikinis allowed around his friends. Never felt that he would pay attention , but he's proud that I take care of myself. The last thing but definitely not the least ...is all of the other hot Mama's I've met through class. It's a great group of ladies."

And when I can’t make it to class, I just throw in the DVD and get in my Pure Barre workout wherever I am. I decided to take my first Pure Barre class after a friend had gushed to me about how it is the most wonderful and challenging workout she has ever had. I was a little reluctant because I had no idea what the class entailed and I had never really enjoyed taking group classes. I am so glad that I tried it because it really has changed my body and the way I view working out. After having three children in three years I feel stronger and more physically fit than I ever have since beginning Pure Barre. It is the most enjoyable and fulfilling workout I have ever experienced. The best part about the Pure Barre technique is that anyone can do it and feel great about what they personally achieve in each class. Thank you to Allison and the Pure Barre instructors for pushing us to work our hardest and for bringing this to our community for all of us to enjoy.

“I’ve seen my body change from that of a thin (and shapeless) runner to that of a well toned and trim athlete."
A friend who attended class regularly first introduced me to Pure Barre. As I drove to my first class I was confident that as a “fit” five-time marathon runner the class would be a mediocre challenge at best. Boy, was I wrong! That class challenged my body in ways that running didn’t. I was thrilled that it focused on all major muscle groups. I was delighted by the atmosphere, tone, and encouragement of the instructor. And yes, it was FUN! I knew I had to make Pure Barre a regular part of my marathon training and workout routine.
A year and two marathons later, I’m still attending class three days a week. I’ve seen my body change from that of a thin (and shapeless) runner to that of a well toned and trim athlete. I am noticeably stronger which has resulted in increased endurance. I have realized that while running is important for cardiovascular health, the body still needs the benefits of strength training to perform at its best.
As a runner I am familiar with the “runner’s high” . . . . .that euphoric feeling some people experience during or after running intensely for long distances. However, I never expected to have similar feelings after a Pure Barre class! I’m so appreciative of the instructors in Saginaw who challenge us each and every day, and encourage us to push ourselves harder than we did the day before. I will continue to come back for more!
