I am a retired kindergarten teacher and, at 66, I am probably more fit than I have ever been since starting Pure Barre 3 years ago. My daughter Elizabeth teaches Pure Barre classes in Edwards, Colorado and she encouraged me to start working out at the studio. I feel Pure Barre has brought us closer together, given us similar goals to be fit and given us more respect for each other.
I have seen and felt my body change to become stronger and firmer – I can tell when I get dressed each day and when I look in the mirror. I have more self-confidence and I always know that going to Pure Barre will make me stronger and healthier.
Both my daughter and I have encouraged each other to go to classes on a regular basis, even when we don’t really want to. We support each other by sharing recipes, healthy drinks and complimenting each other when we make healthy choices. My daughter had her first child 5 months ago and returned to teaching at Pure Barre part-time and going to classes herself. It has been a challenge for her since she feels so out of shape, but I continue to encourage her – and make it easier for to get to class by babysitting!
I tell everyone that Pure Barre is very challenging – but it becomes addictive. If you go at least 2-3 times a week, you will see changes in your stamina and your body within a month. Though they are challenging, the classes are attended by those of all ages and shapes that have the same goal. The teachers are friendly, helpful and understanding and the atmosphere is social and fun – you want to come for so many reasons!
