Your local studio’s Pure Barre pop-up class might bring you to the beach, the mountains or even a rooftop! Research has shown that exercising outdoors not only elevates your mood, increases feelings of well-being and decreases tension levels, it also gives you a Vitamin D boost! Vitamin D, or “the sunshine vitamin,” is naturally made when you expose your skin to the sun. Just 15 minutes of exposure to the sun can boost your mood and improve your health. A deficiency in Vitamin D has been linked to depression, high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure and more. Vitamin D works to prevent osteoporosis by ensuring that calcium is properly absorbed into your bones, making them strong and less likely to break. It is important to have an optimal level of Vitamin D to keep your body healthy and your bones strong to make it through the final 10 counts!
When exercising outdoors, the temperature and humidity levels can vary, and it is important to hydrate hydrate hydrate! Water makes up 60% of your body weight and every system in the body relies on water. When your body does not have enough water, your body can struggle to carry out its normal functions – don’t forget to get in your 8 cups of water per day, even if the temperatures are chilly!
