what to expect from your first class

We’re thrilled that you’ve decided to try out a class. You won’t regret it! We believe that everyone is capable of rocking our classes- no dance experience required. As long as you can hold a ballet barre, you can do Pure Barre. That’s not to say that it’s easy, your first class will likely feel challenging at times, but we encourage you to stick with it. Try your hardest and let loose and feel free to ask your instructor plenty of questions after class if you weren't clear on any of the moves. At Pure Barre, we believe that exercise should be fun!

What should I wear to class?

You should wear pants, leggings or capris that you are comfortable in (no shorts) and a top that covers your midriff. You will see faster results in your flexibility this way. You will also want to wear sticky socks to retain your body’s heat as well as prevent your feet from sliding (you’ll thank us later). You’ll want to remove your shoes and put on your socks before you walk through the studio (you’ll be lying down on the carpet during class, so this is just an effort to keep the floors as tidy as possible).

What should I bring?

We’ll have all the equipment you’ll need there at the studio, so just bring a bottle of water and a positive attitude! We do ask that you not bring your cell phones into class with you, as this can be distracting to the teacher and your fellow LTBers. If you’re expecting an important call, you’re welcome to leave your cell phone at the front desk and we’ll come snag you if you’re needed.

Should I arrive a little early before my first class?

We recommend that you arrive 10-15 minutes before class begins. Once you fill out a short waiver, the teacher will show you where you can leave your belongings and help you get the equipment you’ll be using during the day’s class – typically a set of light weights, a ball, and a tube. Your teacher will bring you a mat halfway during class. Once you’ve got everything you need, just find a spot in the studio where you feel comfortable, facing the front mirror.

What can I expect during class?

For 55 minutes, your personal life will melt away as you plunge into this fun workout set to motivating music. Your teacher will set up the exercises and then circulate the room, correcting form to help you get the most out of your time. Experience a Class

Can men take class?

Yes, men are absolutely welcome to take a class at Pure Barre. Although you will usually find a majority of women in our classes, we have a lot of men who attend regular classes and see great results.

Many studios periodically host "Bring on the Men" classes where clients are encouraged to bring their special men (husband, boyfriend, brother, dad, friend, etc.) to class to find out what Pure Barre is all about. It's always a fun class take!

What if I’m not a teeny tiny ballerina?

Neither are we! We strive to make our studios a place where everyone will feel comfortable. Pure Barre is a low-impact workout and can be done by women of all shapes, sizes, and ages. As long as you can hold on to the ballet barre, you can do Pure Barre! No dancing experience is required. While the Pure Barre technique is high intensity, it is very low impact, meaning you’ll get a great workout without putting excessive stress on your joints. If running or jumping has ever caused pain or stress to your joints, Pure Barre may be just what you're looking for. We focus on very tiny isometric movements, so size truly does not matter. Pure Barre is one of the fastest, most effective ways to change the shape of your body. Client typically see the best results when they take 3-4 classes per week.

Keep with it. Each class brings new strength. Before long you will see improvements in your flexibility, posture, strength and body shape. You are so worth the 55 min each workout takes!

Be patient with yourself! Commit to going for 2 full weeks, at least 6-8 classes before you give up! Seeing muscle shape pop out where you've never seen it before will keep you coming back for more!!

Each class is a new class that is going to help you push yourself to reach your goals! Listen to your body. Don't be intimidated by the progress of others, remember that everyone was a beginner at some point too!

Don't just jump into it and expect to walk out like a pro. Even the most experienced athletes struggle with Pure Barre. It isn't easy, but it well worth every minute. If you are one to struggle, don't worry about anyone staring at you- there is no time for that. Everyone is so focused on the fast pace of the work out that all that they can focus on is their own transformation.
